Social Media: How it’s Changed the Human Race

Since the introduction of social media into society, researchers and average people around the world have noticed a difference in the way we act. People tend to get more distracted and limit the amount of deep work that they do. We may not realize it, but social media platforms have had more of an impact on our lives than most people think about. People are less active and more self conscious, which can harm someone in many ways. Without understanding we are doing something wrong, we continue to harm ourselves through the constant use of social media.

This White Paper explains the history of social media and then what we can do to improve our quality of life. Whether it’s finding ways to limit distractions when focusing, getting enough sleep, or working on one’s mental health, there are many things that can be done to make one’s life better. These tasks may seem easy, but in reality, most people do not take the time they need to focus on their inner thoughts. 

While writing this paper, I learned about things I can do to improve my quality of life. The research process showed me things that I do now that are unhealthy, but it also showed me ways in which I can better myself. I realized the benefits of focusing on myself and thinking less about my presence on social media. There are truly more important things in life.
