Until recently, I had never heard of an internet system to help manage my time. I have always liked to plan, but I’ve preferred to write my “To Do” notes by hand. Growing up, I looked forward to buying a new planner to organize my thoughts. Before every new school year, my mom and I would go on a hunt for the perfect little book for deepest considerations.
Now in college, I still find the perfect planner every year, but I also like to try new platforms where I can organize my lists. Using Trello, a free, online workspace, is something I will definitely continue using in the future. It allows users to create boards to organize their tasks. I created one board for my Foundations of Graduate Studies class and additional ones for my other courses. I was able to create lists where I could add different tasks that must be completed. Inside those individual tasks, I could list sub-tasks, due dates, attachments, and more. The system was very easy to use and organized, which are things I value.

For myself, I set up three list columns that include “To Do,” “Doing,” and “Done”. I am able to move the tasks between the different columns, which is the equivalent of checking things off my paper lists. I layed out my assignments for the rest of my classes, adding due dates and details about each task.

I can see why many companies across the world use these softwares to keep their projects organized. There are many options and different ways of customizing each workspace that would allow any industry to adapt to a software. In the communications industry, projects can be overwhelming and move over a long period of time. These boards visually lay out the different aspects that need to be completed and what can be done to get to the finished product.
